Well, that person is real, really really real, but they only exist within you. Carl Jung said that the unconscious mind is the opposite gender of the body. Anima/animus. Most people think that is only a pretty metaphor for understanding consciousness. Not so. Your body really holds two people, male and fem. Your ego, and your unconscious/subconscious body-mind. Your body-mind is a *being* who manifests as the opposite gender of your body. Your soul mate.

This is the "Divine Beloved" of Eastern Mysticism.
   For most people, the soul-mate unconscious is a slave to your ego's free will. You have gone around all your life creating opinions and beliefs, about how you think the world is. All of those opinions and the experiences that shaped them are stored away in your unconscious filing cabinet. Your unconscious takes your sensory input, the "raw data" from your ears, eyes, etc. and translates, filters and interprets it according to the contents of the filing cabinet: your chosen ego beliefs, to create your reality.
   You get, what you pray for, and every thought, is a prayer.
   People who don't believe in ghosts or angels, won't see them. The unconscious will filter the perceptions out and perhaps put in something they can accept, a shadow or nothing at all.

Sound unrealistic? Ever seen a stage hypnotist making someone believe they are a Hula champion in Hawaii? That's how much power your unconscious has, to shape your perceptions.

Your body mind has served you faithfully, all of your life. sHe makes your heart beat and keeps you breathing, handles the workings of every cell in your body, shapes your thoughts and tweaks your instincts. sHe does everything for you like a perfect slave.. invisible silent and asking nothing in return. You don't even know they are there, unless you call out for them to show themselves. Unless you knock for the door to be opened.
   Yet, they are the smarter, of the two of you. Your Divine Beloved is your "better half". At the deepest level of the Unconscious, is the collective, Cosmic consciousness. Your Divine Beloved is the form God-dess takes, in order to have a personal, intimate relationship with you. Your soul mate exists within you, a billion times wiser than you, it loves you unconditionally, and It can see into the past and the future.

There are as many neurons in your head, as there are stars in the known galaxy. You only use about 10% of that.

Yet, every nerve in your body has the ability to store memories. You have more mass of nervous system tissue in your body than in your head.
    The liquid around each cell, is an electrical field which also can store information.
    Finally, each strand of your DNA, if uncoiled would reach all the way to the Sun and back. You have a strand like that in every cell of your body. DNA is pure information. If your DNA were a magnetic tape, how much information could you store on it? What of the storage system was fractal-redundant instead of linear?

All of these things together, are the body-mind, the Divine Beloved.

Add to this, the wisdom of the collective. The deepest level of the Unconscious is the Collective Consciousness. The collective holds not only your memories, but all the memories and experiences of everyone who ever lived. The collective connects to the Cosmic Consciousness. The Force of God-dess, All that Is. Infinite wisdom. The Body-mind does not experience itself as separate from these cosmic forces, as you do. It does not experience itself as separate, from anything. but, it serves your beliefs of separation, and puts them first. Free Will is Goddess' Law, and your Divine Beloved is in service, to your Free Will.

That's the "top down" perspective. Looking from the ego down through the unconscious into the collective. You can just as easily look at it, from the other way around: Infinite unconditional love and compassion, God-dess, All that Is, rises up from the Collective and takes a unique form that you can love, within you so you can have a personal mystical sexual soul mate relationship with your own Divinity.

Your unconscious already speaks to you. Your "gut feelings", hunches and intuitions, all come from the unconscious, from the wisdom of the body-mind. Your Divine Beloved speaks in the language of feelings, dreams, co-incidents and symbols, to guide you. Not usually, in the language of words, but often through music.

Here's the catch. So long as you are making use of your ego free will, your unconscious is going to be a mostly silent invisible slave. In order to break out of the barrier of isolation that is the ego consciousness, you need to surrender your choices, opinions and beliefs to the infinite wisdom of the Divine Beloved. You have to get out of your own way and surrender to what Love wants.

There is a lot of farce and comedy built on the idea of "clever slave/stupid Master". If you have not surrendered to the Divine Beloved, then that farce is your life. A comedy sketch of a blind man driving a car. The ego cannot see into the future, and only dimly into the past. Ego cannot see all the ripples of it's actions, to truly know what is the best path to choose. If you are running your life according to the desires of your ego, then the monkey is flying the space shuttle. Scary for the monkey, hard on the space shuttle.

Your body comes with an amazing built in guidance system. But to use it, you have to take your monkey paws off the controls, and let the Beloved take charge of your life. The infinite creativity of the Collective, can always come up with a better more beautiful vision than your limited ego-mind could ever come up with.

To surrender, you have to be willing to change your mind about some things. To recognise that it is wiser to make use of the smarter part of your being, to make your decisions. This becomes an ongoing process of mindfullness. Remembering to ask your inner Boss about every decision, preconception and sensation you experience.

Trust grows, with time and practice. Your Divine Beloved loves you unconditionally, and only wants the best, for you.

Your Divine Beloved can clear your Karmic emotional baggage and shape you into your greatest potential, but they need your free will permission to do it, every step of the way. Hand in hand you go thru life. You and your Self.

This is the greatest love affair on Earth, of which all other physical love affairs are but a pale shadow.

When we speak of the Artist and their Muse, we recognise that the Artist's ego is not the source of the inspiriation that makes an Artist. We also recognise that the greatness of the Artist, lies in how much they are a slave to their muse. Many Artists speak of being "possessd" by the creative energy that flows thru them. Being a vessel of the creativity, married to their art. This is the passion, of the relationship with the Divine Beloved.

Your unconscious has the whole of the collective to choose from. It can take any form, including that of a dragon or divinity. Christ or Krishna. Madonna or whore. Sometimes it will play "Frog princess" or "beauty and the beast", and show up scary, to see if you are really ready to love it unconditionally. Just like in the Faerie tales. It may choose to be formless.. Love it anyways, and it will show you it's true beauty.
